ACE - Professional Development Certification Program

In accordance with Florida statutes, the ACE Professional Development Certification Program is designed to provide mid-career professionals the opportunity to fulfill instructional requirements to qualify as an educator. After completing the ACE program, participants may seek professional teaching certificates.

The ACE Professional Development Certification Program is provided online through the FLDOE EdVentures program.

  • Participants work online at their own pace.
  • Monthly online orientations are provided to assist participants in getting started with the program.
  • Optional face-to-face mentoring sessions, Saturday workshops, and summer workshops are provided to assist participants with the program requirements.
  • A mentor is available to assist participants at their school site with job-embedded professional development.

How to be Eligible for the Program

  1. Be on a temporary certificate.
  2. Have a bachelorā€™s degree or higher.
  3. Secure a full-time, paid K-12 instructional position with PCPS in a position that does not vary from day to day.
    • [Participants must be the teacher of record with students assigned to them as their teacher. Participants must be teaching in their area of temporary certification. ACE tasks do require direct student contact over time and the ability to create a curriculum used by students. (Due to FLDOE Guidelines, these employment classifications cannot be accepted into the ACE Program: Deans, Social Workers, Facilitators, Councilors, Instructional Coaches, Administrators, Intensive Reading, Gifted, Adult School, or PreK Teachers, Administrators, or Testing Coordinators. To enter the program, Media Specialists must be assigned classes of students to teach.)]
  4. All Applicants must have completed these pre-requirements prior to applying for the ACE Program:

    General Knowledge Test, Subject Area Test, Reading Endorsement Competency 1 and 2, an ESOL Class and PEC.

    Teachers Certified in PreK-Primary, Elementary Ed., ESE, English 6-12, Middle Grades English, and ESOL Certified must also complete the pre-requirements listed above along with Reading Endorsement Competencies 3, 4 and 5.

Tuition for the required 2nd part of the ACE Program is $1000 ($1250 for charter school participants)
