Public Relations & Media Inquiries

News Media Inquiries

In order to foster a positive, open relationship with the media, Polk County Public Schools follows specific guidelines to ensure inquiries are handled in an efficient and timely manner.

The Department of Public Relations & Strategic Partnerships is the primary media contact and provides media relations support, including coordinating news conferences and media events, producing external and internal news stories, and assisting schools and departments with effective media relations.

Information

Employees are advised to refer District-related questions from the media to the Department of Public Relations & Strategic Partnerships. Factual information should be provided upon request, but employees should refrain from offering opinions or statements regarding policy. Any media contact, regardless of the type of information requested, should be conveyed to the Department of Public Relations & Strategic Partnerships.

Records Request

For public records or research requests, visit polkschoolsfl.com/recordsrequest. Please note, student records are not considered public records.

Photos/Videos

If approved by the Department of Public Relations & Strategic Partnerships, media personnel are allowed to take photos or shoot video at school and school district-sponsored events.

Branding

In 2018, the Polk County Public Schools’ Public Relations & Strategic Partnerships department led a unique rebranding effort that combined student talent with professional expertise found in the local business community. The student-created Polk County Public Schools brand stands as a testament to the talent and potential that we as a school district foster every day, to the power of public-private partnerships, and to the transformational things that are possible when we put Students First. For more information on this branding project and/or to view the Making the Brand video, visit polkschoolsfl.com/makingthebrand.

For logo files, logo approvals, and assistance with branded materials contact Public Relations & Strategic Partnerships at 863-457-4708.
