Approximately 685 teachers requiring substitutes are expected to be absent from school today, Jan. 14.

The number of absences expected for today is down significantly from Monday but still higher than normal. A typical number of daily absences is between 300 to 400.

The majority of absences are being covered by substitutes.

Today’s School Board work session has been canceled so that district staff members can also be assigned to schools to provide additional support as needed.

Our schools remain open for students, and our regular attendance policy remains in place.

We thank you for your support and patience this week as we responded to teacher absences due to an education rally in Tallahassee.
