A trio of Sleepy Hill Middle students made history and took home some hardware at the SkillsUSA Championships.

The Sleepy Hill team — Michelle Berrios, Madison Dolyak and Ryder Walters — won the bronze medal in the team engineering challenge competition. They are the first middle school team from Florida to ever receive a medal at the Championships.

Held last month in Louisiville, Ky., the SkillsUSA Championships featured more than 6,500 students competing in more than 100 hands-on trade, technical and leadership fields. All students taking part in the event were previous winners at the state level.

Sleepy Hill Middle teacher Amy Hamilton said her team members are “true champions in their dedication to excellence.” We agree!
