Three students from Polk County Public Schools are among the semifinalists for this year’s National Merit Scholarship Program.
Congratulations to Karol Aleman from Lakeland High, Owens Parker from Bartow IB and Parker Widener from Harrison School for the Arts!
There are approximately 16,000 “academically talented” National Merit Scholarship semifinalists this year, representing less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors. They will continue in the competition for some 7,600 National Merit Scholarships that will be offered in the spring.
Merit Scholar designees “are selected on the basis of their skills, accomplishments, and potential for success in rigorous college studies,” according to program officials.
