Today we gathered in Winter Haven to commemorate an expansion of the Central Florida Aerospace Academy (CFAA).
The new CFAA is a career academy offered by Winter Haven High through a partnership with the Winter Haven Regional Airport. The original CFAA, offered by Kathleen High, opened at Lakeland Linder Regional Airport in 2011.
The CFAA sites offer rigorous academic and workforce experiences for students interested in pursuing careers in aviation, aerospace and engineering. Portable classrooms have been installed at the Winter Haven airport so students can participate in hands-on lessons.
We owe a huge thanks to the Winter Haven Regional Airport and our community partners for making this project possible. We’d also like to thank Winter Haven High’s culinary academy, Cafe Bleu, for providing refreshments today.
