Polk County Public Schools held the 27th annual About-Face Awards today, honoring middle and high school students who have made positive changes in their academic careers.

This year’s ceremony was held virtually through a broadcast on the PCPS YouTube channel. Altogether, 46 students were recognized for improving their grade point average, attendance or attitude.

At schools across the district, staff and family members gathered with their honorees to watch the online broadcast, while enjoying breakfast provided by McDonald’s.

This year’s keynote speaker was Troy Smith. He has spent more than 20 years in sales management with GEICO and is a certified speaker and life coach. He also is a health and fitness coach and co-founder of FiT Fusion.

The About-Face Awards are made possible through the generous sponsorship of TECO Energy.
