Lakeland High’s Andrea Goodson has been named the 2019 Secondary Art Educator of the Year.
Presented by the Florida Art Education Association (FAEA), the honor recognizes outstanding teachers and leaders within the field of art education. Goodson, a visual arts instructor at LHS, is scheduled to receive the award in November during the FAEA’s annual conference in Ponte Vedra Beach.
Goodson is well known for her classroom expertise and is an integral member of the LHS staff, serving as a department chair and graduation coordinator. In addition, she has been recognized at the district level as a leader and trainer for other arts instructors, and has served as an Advanced Placement art history consultant and reader for the College Board.
“We are so proud of Andrea and her accomplishments in Polk County,” said Nancy Puri, senior coordinator of visual arts for Polk County Public Schools. “Now she will be recognized on the state level for her excellence in art education!”
