Congratulations to Janiyah McAllister from Harrison School for the Arts, who was recently honored as a semifinalist in the 2022 National High School Musical Theatre Awards.
Also known as the Jimmy Awards, the program recognizes outstanding student achievement in vocal, dance and acting performance. This year’s ceremony was held on June 27 at Broadway’s Minskoff Theatre.
Nationwide, 46 performing arts centers each selected one male and one female student to represent their district. McAllister was chosen by Tampa’s Straz Center for the Performing Arts for her performance as Esmerelda in “The Hunchback of Notre Dame.”
McAllister ultimately finished as one of eight semifinalist scholarship recipients in the 2022 Jimmy Awards. She will be a senior at Harrison this year.
