Polk County Public Schools’ Gibbons Street location recently got a makeover, thanks to Lowe’s.

Employees from Lowe’s in Bartow donated the materials and labor to revamp the front entrance of the Gibbons Street Preschool Center and Learning Support division office, located at 1860 E. Gibbons Street in Bartow.

During their full day of work, the Lowe’s employees removed weeds, pressure washed, installed new landscaping, re-mulched the building’s picnic area, repainted metal poles at the student drop-off and pick-up area, and repainted building signage.

ESE Senior Manager Kris Newman-Lake applied for the Lowe’s beautification grant that made the Gibbons Street improvements possible.

“We’re so thankful to Lowe’s for this generous donation,” Newman-Lake said. “It will make such a difference to our employees, families and the surrounding neighborhood.”

Bartow Lowe’s store manager Zack Long said he and his employees are happy to have made a difference for Gibbons Street.

“For a school, presentation is so important,” he said. “When it looks clean and professional, the students and parents will feel better about coming here. We’re glad we could help make this happen.”
