Brigham Academy has been authorized as an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School.

Brigham is the ninth IB school within Polk County Public Schools and the third to offer an IB Primary Years (elementary) Programme.

IB World Schools are noted for their “unique academic rigour and their emphasis on students’ personal development,” according to the International Baccalaureate Organization.

“I would like to commend my students and staff on this fantastic accomplishment,” said Brigham Academy Principal Lynn Boland. “I’m very excited for the opportunities this will bring for our students.”

Brigham joins the following IB World Schools in our district:

  • Elementary level: Dundee Elementary Academy, Lincoln Avenue Academy
  • Middle school level: Dundee Ridge Middle Academy, Jewett Middle Academy, Lawton Chiles Middle Academy, Union Academy
  • High school level: Bartow High, Haines City High

“We are so pleased with Brigham’s authorization as an elementary IB program,” said Carolyn Bridges, senior director of PCPS’ office of acceleration and innovation. “This will allow students to enroll in a seamless K-12 program that offers significant college credits in high school, and prepares them for success and global citizenship.”
