U.S. Department of Education Spotlights Ridge Community High’s Chris Davidson

As Super Bowl anticipation continued to build last week, the U.S. Department of Education posted an excellent story about Chris Davidson, head football coach and teacher at Ridge Community High.

Read it here.

Davidson was recently voted as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ high school Coach of the Year for 2020. After reading his profile on the USDOE blog, it’s clear why he’s been such an inspiration for RCHS and our community:

Davidson and his staff believe in teachable moments. Interacting with students around the campus is important. The way he conducts himself around them helps with the way they conduct themselves.

“When you can have meaningful conversations and you realize that students get it and they’re unraveling things – it’s an energy of its own,” Davidson says. “You can feel it when a kid has it.”

“You have to be there for kids. You have to be a constant in their life. You have to be flexible.”
