Polk County Public Schools has been named to Forbes’ 2022 list of America’s Best Employers for Women.

PCPS ranked 58th on the national list, which identifies companies that “support women inside and outside their workforces.” Tampa General Hospital earned the top spot overall, and the University of South Florida came in at No. 22.

To compile the rankings, Forbes said it partnered with the market research firm Statista and surveyed 50,000 Americans (30,000 women and 20,000 men) who work for organizations with at least 1,000 employees. Respondents rated their employers on criteria including working conditions, diversity and how likely they’d be to recommend their workplace to others.

Statista also asked female respondents to rate their employers on factors such as parental leave, discrimination and pay equity. Representation at the executive and board levels were also factored into the final score. (Click here to view the full Forbes list.)

Earlier this year, PCPS was also featured on Forbes’ list of America’s Best Employers for Diversity, at No. 390.

PCPS has approximately 13,500 employees and more than 75 percent of the workforce is female. Women serve in critical roles and hold leadership positions throughout the organization, working as school principals and administrators, as well as district-level directors and superintendents.

PCPS has recently increased pay for many positions, and offers health insurance, free health clinics, Florida Retirement System benefits and generous time off for all employees.
