PCPS Cuts the Ribbon at South Pointe Elementary
Posted on 09/29/2023

Earlier today we gathered at South Pointe Elementary for a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

South Pointe opened in August and is PCPS’ newest elementary school. It measures nearly 127,000 square feet, located near the southernmost point of Winter Haven — which inspired the school’s name.

South Pointe features brand new classrooms, science labs, a TV studio, media center and two playgrounds. Students enjoy hands-on STEM lessons, fine arts education, and Cambridge International curriculum.

Principal Dart Meyers previously served at Frostproof Ben Hill Griffin Jr. Elementary, and Assistant Principal Maude Frazier was the 2021 Polk County Teacher of the Year.

Last but not least, South Pointe is the first PCPS school to have the osprey as its mascot. Thanks to all who joined us today!
