Lakeland High’s Bill Castle is being named to the Florida Athletic Coaches Association’s Hall of Fame.

Castle, who retired this year as Lakeland’s head football coach, will also receive the Dub Palmer Lifetime Achievement Award from FACA, the organization announced Monday.

Castle had a remarkable 52-year career at Lakeland. He racked up 473 wins — the most in Florida history — and also brought home eight state championships and two national titles.

The FACA Hall of Fame ceremony is scheduled to take place on Jan. 6 at the Drury Plaza Hotel in Orlando.
