Kirstin Voitus from Loughman Oaks Elementary has been named Florida's Elementary Physical Education Teacher of the Year.

The award is presented by the Florida chapter of the Society of Health and Physical Educators (SHAPE). It recognizes exemplary PE teachers who teach comprehensive and diverse lessons while using practices that follow professional standards. The award also recognizes PE teachers who serve as advocates for their profession.

Voitus will be honored in October during SHAPE Florida's conference in Orlando. She is now eligible to compete for SHAPE's Southern District Elementary Physical Educator of the Year, which is given to one teacher from a 13-state region.

Voitus “is truly an asset to our students and other staff members,” said Sara Stoquert, principal of Loughman Oaks Elementary. “She is always high energy, and really takes the time with each one of her students to ensure they're having a positive experience. We're so excited to have her represent our school. She's wonderful.”
