Auburndale High Wins Sportmanship Award

Auburndale High is the winner of the 2022 Fred E. Rozelle Sportsmanship Award for Class 5A.

The honor, presented by the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA), is given to schools that “promote sportsmanship both on and off the field … (and) whose athletic teams demonstrated exemplary sportsmanship” during the school year.

“It is our pleasure to once again promote the outstanding sportsmanship displayed by our member schools,” said George Tomyn, executive director of the FHSAA. “High school sports teach lessons well beyond the game, and no one knows that better than the schools being recognized as the 2022 Fred E. Rozelle Sportsmanship Award Winners. The student-athletes, coaches, administrators, parents and fans of these well-deserving programs exemplify the true meaning of sportsmanship.”

Auburndale was one of six schools statewide that received the Sportsmanship Award for 2021-22; the FHSAA also recognized five runners-up. The winner in each classification receives $2,500 and a commemorative plaque.
