Judge J. Dale Durrance founded Polk County Teen Court, a program where juvenile criminal offenders are diverted from the juvenile court system and referred to teen volunteers for punishment. Teen Court serves as a law enforcement and judicial diversion program for the juvenile justice system. Named Outstanding Judge of the Year in 1989 by the Florida Council on Crime and Delinquency.
