Hazel Haley is one of Florida’s and the nation’s most celebrated teachers. She began teaching English in 1938 and inspired and taught students for 69consecutive years. She taught all but one of those 69years at her alma mater, Lakeland High School. She has the longest tenure of any Florida teacher and has been the subject of dozens of news articles, features, interviews and documentaries in the local, national and international media. Miss Haley retired in 2006.
