The first list of National Merit Scholarship winners for 2021 has been announced, and it includes two students from International Baccalaureate at Bartow High.
Congratulations to Tess Landreth and Vraj Patel! They are among approximately 1,000 distinguished high school seniors nationwide who have won corporate-sponsored National Merit Scholarships this year.
Landreth and Patel’s scholarships are sponsored by State Farm and Walgreens, respectively.
Additional groups of National Merit Scholars will be announced in May, June and July. Ultimately, about 7,500 seniors will receive scholarships totaling nearly $30 million this year. The winners are “judged to have the strongest combination of academic skills and achievements, extracurricular accomplishments, and potential for success in rigorous college studies,” according to the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
