Registration Requirements:

Students entering kindergarten must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2023.

  • Birthdate verification, a physical exam dated within the last 13 months and a certificate of immunization (Florida Department of Health form 680) showing shots including second MMR, polio, DPT/DTaP, Hepatitis B series and second varicella, or signed proof of chicken pox.
  • Two proofs of residency are required. Acceptable proofs include: mortgage document, property tax record, home/apartment lease agreement, current utility bill, current voter registration, proof of government benefits, Florida Driver's License, auto registration/insurance.

Please visit your zoned elementary school with required documents. Students currently enrolled in a Polk County pre-K or VPK program must register in person.

Free 2023 Kindergarten Readiness Camp

Kindergarten is a huge step in a child's life! Polk County Public Schools wants to make this big change a little easier through our Kindergarten Readiness Summer Camp.

During the free summer camp, our newest scholars will participate in fun learning activities to better prepare them for success in the classroom and beyond.

Teachers will use play, classroom organization and learning centers to cover essential areas for kindergarten readiness, including language, literacy and math. Children will also learn about important social-emotional skills and topics, such as following rules, taking turns, understanding emotions, and expressing themselves productively.
