We were thinking a lot about water today, and not just because of the rain.

Superintendent Heid visited Lakeland Highlands Middle to recognize two students, Kiana Imperial and Julie Warren, who are making a splash in our district.

Back in 2022, the young ladies met with Heid and school board member Dr. William Allen to advocate for having touchless water fountains and bottle filling stations installed at their school. The fountains are a great way to cut down on germs and reduce waste from plastic water bottles.

PCPS was so impressed by the students’ presentation that we’re now working to have touchless fountains and bottle stations installed districtwide. The first units were recently added at LHMS.

So when the new fountains start showing up at your school, you’ll know who to thank: Kiana and Julie!
