Barbara Harrison retired from Lakeland Regional Health Systems in 2007 after 42 years of service. Identified as a leader early on, Mrs. Harrison quickly climbed the ranks in healthcare; and in 1995, she became the first black vice president in Lakeland Regional Medical Center history. Mrs. Harrison received her nursing degree from Polk Community College and a master's degree in health-care administration from Central Michigan University.
