Grant Available to Help Cover Costs for Traviss and Ridge Technical College Students

Polk County Public Schools is proud to share an exciting new opportunity available to our Class of 2022 graduates.

The Open Door Grant may pay up to two-thirds of tuition, fees, books, and other materials (up to $3,000) at Traviss or Ridge Technical College. The grant provides funds to support completion of short-term, high-demand credit and non-credit career and technical education (CTE) programs. Students can earn industry certification in a variety of high-demand professions, including firefighting, automotive repair, welding, health care, and much more.

Parents may be eligible to take advantage of the Open Door Grant too! Those interested should contact Traviss or Ridge directly for information about eligibility criteria and the application process.

Who is eligible for the Open Door Grant?

The program is open to unemployed, underemployed, or furloughed Florida residents who are 18 and over who meet enrollment criteria for Traviss or Ridge Technical College.

What is the deadline to complete an application?

Each course or program of study requires a different time commitment. The student must enroll with enough time to complete coursework and assessment no later than Sept. 30, 2023. Please contact Traviss or Ridge for information on specific program hours and requirements.
