Volunteers Needed to Review ESE Curriculum Materials

Breaking News for Polk County Schools

Polk County Public Schools is seeking help with evaluating potential instructional materials for students with the most significant cognitive disabilities.

The school district's Learning Support Division is looking for volunteers to serve as members of the ESE Access Points Curriculum Adoption Committee.

This committee will review selected publisher materials that provide specific instruction in Florida Access Points at various grade levels and subjects before making a recommendation to the school board for adoption. Thank you to those willing to take on this important public service, which will greatly benefit our students participating in Exceptional Student Education programs.

Committee members can come from various stakeholder groups, including:

  • School/district administrators
  • Teachers
  • Instructional coaches
  • Interventionists
  • Parents
  • Community members

     

The committee will hold meetings on May 2, May 16, and May 18. These meetings will take place from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Jim Miles Professional Development Center, 4270 Wallace Road in Lakeland.

Those interested in applying to serve on the committee must complete an online survey (CLICK HERE). The deadline to complete the survey is April 17.
