The Agritechnologies Academy offers courses in traditional agriculture operations that include Animal Science and Horticulture. Students learn from hands-on activities, work in the classroom, and also through the largest student-run organization in the world, the FFA. This program will get you started on your road to success in the culinary industry. Here you’ll learn what it takes to create delicious dishes and learn valuable skills needed in and out of the classroom through a hands-on environment. Whether you’re an aspiring chef or planning on owning your own restaurant we will provide the knowledge to get you there. We have competitions, certifications and scholarship opportunities that keep you challenged all year long.

As part of this nationally accredited model academy, students will have hands-on training that will lead them into the medical field. Students compete across the state and country in the HOSA Club. Students can receive dual enrollment in EMR medical training, medical terminology, and allied health.
Graphic Design
Prepare for a career in areas of promotional graphics, digital design or TV broadcast while earning industry certifications inAdobe products such as Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, InDesign, and Illustrator. Students will produce the morning news, compete in film festivals and make original films. This program was awarded the Medallion Award from the Sunshine State School Public Relation Association for the student competition that produced our new school district logo and tagline, “Students First.”
Education
Early Childhood Education Academy provides experience and specialized instruction for students interested in working with children. Students help operate a program that provides care for children from 12 weeks to 5 years of age, giving the high school students hands-on experience with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. The program also gives students the opportunity to interact with children on a daily basis, allowing them to discover if they are suited for a career in working with children.
Engineering
This program offers two different tracks, Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing. It provides a critical link between the design engineering process and manufacturing by fostering an understanding of design principles, material properties, and manufacturing processes. Students gain hands-on training with a 3D printer and CADD technology.

This is a leadership organization for Agriculture Education students.

Agriculture
The iGrow Agriculture Academy, helps students develop competencies in a variety of areas of agriculture. Students are introduced to concepts demonstrating the diversity and importance of agriculture in Florida, in areas such as horticulture, animal husbandry, forestry, agritechnology, and agribusiness. IGrow Academy also enjoys a partnership with Summerlin Academy in the Equestrian Program, where students learn equations through the Dressage discipline of training and riding. Students will gain an understanding of the environmental principles that govern our natural resources and be exposed to a variety of career opportunities in agriculture business and technology. Students learn from hands-on activities, work in the classroom, and also through the largest student-run organization in the world, the FFA.
Construction (ACE)
The Bartow Academy of Architecture, Construction, and Engineering (ACE) focuses its educational efforts on the labor force of construction-related industries in and around Polk County. Currently, the academy has three tracks to prepare students for entry-level employment or advanced training in the construction and manufacturing trades. Students are encouraged, but not required, to take courses in multiple tracks when their schedules allow for a broader understanding of the interconnectivity between the three tracks Engineering, Construction, and Architecture.
Criminal Justice
This a multi-year program where upon graduation, students will have the necessary skills and certifications for employment or continued education in the criminal justice industry. Students will explore academic and career information in law enforcement, courts and corrections. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to take part in mock trials and police explorer programs. The academy also includes a dual enrollment class, allowing students to earn college credit while still enrolled in high school.

This a nationally accredited model academy, which provides the opportunity to learn culinary fundamentals in taste, presentation, and cooking techniques. It will allow for experience in the kitchen as well as all aspects of cost control, safety and sanitation, nutrition, and kitchen management. Working at a school-based catering/restaurant setting provides many learning opportunities. Students are involved in catering experiences in school and around the county, providing them with real-world experiences in the culinary industry.

This program offers a sequence of courses that provides coherent and rigorous content aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for further education and careers in the Education & Training career cluster. The content includes, but is not limited to, competencies and skills needed to become a professional in the field of education.

This a nationally accredited model academy, where learners embark on a medical or firefighting program track. Medical Program Track offers courses in Medical Skills, Health Science Anatomy, Health Science Foundations, Emergency Medical Responder, Electrocardiograph Technician, Certified Nursing Assistant or Principles of Public Safety. In the Fire Program Track, students will learn about the Fire service and skills within the career industry. During the Fire Academy program, students must complete EMR, Live fire burns, Wildland fire S130/S190, all exams, skills, and the State Firefighter task book with a passing score.

Culinary
The Culinary Arts pathway introduces students to fundamental food preparation terms, concepts, and methods in culinary arts where laboratory practice will parallel class work. Fundamental techniques, skills, and terminology are covered and matered with an emphasis on basic kitchen and dining room safety, sanitation, equipment maintenance and operation procedures. Courses also provide an overview of the professionalism in the culinary industry and career opportunities leading into a career pathway in culinary arts. The Culinary Arts curriculum prepares students for positions as chefs, cooks, and food preparation workers who prepare, season and cook a wide range of foods.
Fashion Design
The purpose of this program is to prepare students for initial employment or continued study in fashion technology. This career pathway is designed to develop competencies in fashion technology. This course includes essential basic skills for working in fashion design, leadership, and organizational skills, basic principles of design, textile characteristics and care, employability skills, relationship between human factors and fashion design. The safe use of tools and equipment, and the selection of appropriate materials.

The purpose of this program is to prepare students for employment in digital publishing positions, such as Information Technology Assistants, Production Assistants, Digital Assistant Designers, Graphic Designers, and Multimedia Designers. This program offers a sequence of courses that provides coherent and rigorous content aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for further education and careers in the Arts, A/V Technology and Communications. The content includes, but is not limited to, enhanced practical experiences in computer generated art and text, graphic design, graphic productions, electronic design skills, preparation of electronic layouts and illustrations, and electronic scanning, and development of specialized skills in multimedia presentations.
Modeling and Simulation
The Modeling Simulation Design program offers a sequence of courses that provides coherent and rigorous content aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for further education and careers in the Information Technology career cluster and the expansive employment opportunities in the field of Modeling and Simulation. The content includes, but is not limited to, practical experiences in modeling and simulation conceptualization, design, storyboarding, development methodologies, essential programming techniques, prototype development, production processes and implementation challenges. Science, Computer Programming, Math, 2D and 3D Art are embedded throughout the program to emphasize the relationship between these areas and the field of Modeling and Simulation.
TV Production
Television Production at Davenport High School offers a sequence of lessons that provide coherent and rigorous content aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for further education and careers in the Arts, A/V Technology and Communications. Students will learn technical skills, higher-order reasoning and problem-solving skills, positive work attitude, general employability skills, and occupation-specific skills. Student will also learn and develop communication skills, leadership skills, human relations, safe and efficient work practices, and prepare to assume responsibility for television network activities (e.g., scriptwriting, lighting, shooting and directing, electronic news gathering, and field production). Students will be able to use these skills during a number of live broadcasts and productions as part of the schools YouTube Channel, the Broncos Broadcast Network (DHSBBN.com or search for @DHSBBN on YouTube). These productions include a weekly Newscast, Davenport Broncos Sporting Events, as well as other events in the Davenport Community such as the annual Davenport Christmas Parade and Winterfest. Students will also have the opportunity to enter their work into national competitions such as Student Television Network’s 60 Second Horrorfest.

In the Pathways Café, students will have the opportunity to explore different culinary careers. Students will learn how to prepare meals, the proper presentation of meals, kitchen safety, and menu development. This pre-academy will prepare students for Winter Haven High School or Lake Region High School’s respective Culinary Academies. It will also prepare students for Winter Haven High School’s Cafe Bleu’ Academy.
Medical
Medical students will learn about a wide variety of skills including physical fitness, stress management, healthy eating, and health-related occupations. This pre-academy introduces students to the concepts needed for Winter Haven or Lake Region’s respective Medical Academies. It also prepares students for any of the team sports available at the high school level.
Aerospace
The Pre-Aerospace Academy at Denison Middle School is the perfect program for students who want to explore the world of aviation and aerospace. Lessons cover the history of aviation, principles of flight and navigation, the aerospace community, weather and space. This pre-academy prepares students to explore the aerospace industry by exposing them to aviation careers including: Flight, Maintenance, Engineering, Design, Manufacturing, Leadership Management, Government, Air Traffic Control, Military, Writing, Communications, Education and Training. If students are successful in the Pre-Aerospace Academy, they can proceed to the Aerospace Academy at Winter Haven High School. Students enrolling in this academy should enjoy and be ready to engage in learning. It is recommended students be proficient on the Florida Assessment of Student Thinking in both ELA and Math.

Construction Academy of Fort Meade
The Construction Academy is a new offering that has been driven by industry need to provide instruction to students interested in going into the construction field. Areas of instruction will include Safety, Framing, Electrical, Plumbing, Masonry, Planning, Building Codes and Roofing. Opportunities for industry professionals to serve as guest presenters in the classroom as well as future job shadowing are being planned. Career Student Organizations in TSA or Skills USA may be offered.

This nationally accredited certified academy provides students extensive hands-on learning to enter the pharmacy career field. The DNA of our coursework intertwines the course knowledge of the health care delivery system with the function of developing quality entrepreneurship skills in sequence with understanding wellness, pharmaceutical terminology, and technological innovations.
Hospitality & Marketing
Through the academy, students gain knowledge in all aspects of culinary hospitality including health / sanitation basics through final presentation. Students can earn the SafeServe certification along with other areas of interest and have the opportunity to intern at some of the top local attractions including Streamsong Resort. The Marketing Academy provides opportunities for our students who have expressed an interest in developing business and technology skills through computer application classes. This program will allow students to gain knowledge and the ability to use business persuasion in branding a product.

The Academy of Engineering and Architecture is a nationally accredited model academy, that focuses on preparing students for the career field of engineering and/or architecture. Students engage in project and technology-based learning to equip them with skills needed in college and career and have an opportunity to earn Industry Certification in a variety of industry-relevant software programs. Students in the academy have the option to pursue the Engineering Track or the Architecture Track.
Graphic Design
The Academy of Design & Technology, is a nationally accredited model academy, offering a four-year information technology career and professional academy offering industry certification and specific career pathways. Articulation, dual enrollment, and business/education partnerships will be emphasized. Students will work in small supportive, motivational communities with the opportunity to earn up to one year of college credit. This will prepare them for careers in the high-growth, high-salary fields of a Digital Assistant Designer and/or Film Production Assistant.
Legal Studies
The Academy of Legal Studies, nationally accredited model academy, will provide students with career and college opportunities in the field of law. College-bound students will find numerous higher education opportunities in law, including public administration, political studies, and law school. Through a combination of articulation agreements and dual enrollment, students will be able to earn college credit. Academy students are called upon to perform in-class debates regarding current legal issues. The practice of legal research and writing is also emphasized. Students gain access to local professionals in the legal field, including court reporters, judges, attorneys, politicians and legal assistants.

The George Jenkins Medical Academy is a nationally accredited model academy, designed to prepare students for an entry-level medical job or for continued education in a medical career. It is a minimum three-year course of study with multiple tracts. The student may choose one or more of the following courses: EKG Technician, Allied Health, or Emergency Medical Responder, all of which all include Industry Certification (EKG Technician, Phlebotomy and EMR respectively). There are articulation agreements with Polk State College which allow the student to earn up to 6 credits.
Veterinary Science
This academy is a four-year program of study designed to prepare high school students for entry into post-secondary education majoring in Veterinary Sciences, as well as direct entry into a related Veterinary career after high school as a certified veterinary assistant. Along the way, students receive hands-on experience with the SPCA.

This nationally accredited certified academy offers a unique opportunity to work with animals, promote environmental stewardship, and gain career experience. EATA offers two career technical education tracks; Animal Science and Aquaculture. Animal Science allows students to actively care for and interact with a plethora of animals: emus, horses, rabbits, chickens, cattle, pigs and alpacas. These interactions will encourage students to learn the technical side of agriculture and the skills that come with it. The second track, Aquaculture, creates an experience that combines fish husbandry with aquatic plant production. Students will combine technology and hard work to create a product that can be sold to the public/industry. Florida is the industry leader in ornamental fish production. This track helps students learn the skills necessary to enter and advance this industry. EATA will always strive to introduce, educate and prepare students for a career in agriculture and related industries.

Through a hands-on approach, students will be introduced to the scientific principles in dealing with living plants and animals. Up and coming technological advances in Agriculture are covered using state-of-the-art equipment. We will use real-life applications of the science when working in the realm of Aquaculture, Animal Sciences, Hydroponics, Soil Sciences, and Biotechnology, just to name a few. Students will be taught how to market what they are producing and working on or with. They will be taught multiple leadership skills to assist in developing a new Agriculture generation.

Our Culinary Pre Academy is designed to prepare students to work both front and back of the restaurant operations. This includes prepping, cooking, delivering and cleaning the tables along with managing budgets, sales and food in accordance with local, state and federal regulations. Our students’ design projects, dances, and dinners to take classroom knowledge into real-world action.

Lakeland Electric is a proud partner with the Polk County Public Schools in creating the Pre-Power Academy at Kathleen Middle School. Lakeland Electric offers opportunities in a variety of technical positions in Production (generating plants), Delivery (wires, poles. Substations), Customer Service (meter reading, call center), and more. The goal of developing the Pre-Power Academy introduces students to careers in the Energy field. In addition, the Pre-Power Academy will provide students with an excellent foundation to compete for a variety of other trade and industry academies in high school.

Avionics—This program track is designed to introduce students to avionics systems to include troubleshooting, repairing, and installing airborne radio communications, navigation, and radar equipment systems.
Airframe & Powerplant—This program track is designed to introduce students to maintenance and repair to aircraft structures, flight control surfaces, and aircraft instruments.
Engineering—This program track is designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of engineering with an emphasis on applied aerospace engineering.

The Business Pre-Academy, the program provides a wonderful opportunity to increase student achievement and to prepare a solid foundation for them to continue their success when they move to a high school level business and technology academy. It also provides them with the tools needed to ensure their success while continuing their future academic endeavors and career choices. Students learn important keyboarding skills as well as MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, MS Access, and Adobe Photoshop. In addition, students learn Basic Computer Concepts and Internet skills.

The mission of the Polk Academy of Business & Technology, as a nationally accredited certified academy in cooperation with parents and the community, is to provide all students training in specialized technology courses while preparing them for post-secondary studies and to enter the workforce of tomorrow. The focus of the Academy is on building a solid foundation of academic skills while instilling responsibility, interpersonal skills, and work ethics. The teachers incorporate teamwork, leadership, and communication skills within English, Economics, and technology classes.

Academy of Finance gives high school students an opportunity to learn about and prepare for college careers in business and finance. Emphasis is placed on a college preparatory curriculum that is directly linked to the business world. Our mission is to ensure that our students learn business skills to prepare for the future, gain knowledge of money management by making better financial decisions, and practice real-life workplace applications. AOF is recognized as a National Certified Academy by Polk County Public Schools and has gained national recognition by the National Academy Foundation as a Model Academy in 2014 and 2015.

This course prepares students to understand the nature of human development from conception through adolescence and the connection of the students’ development and plans for working with children. Emphasis is placed on theories of physical, cognitive, and psychosocial development, the effect of heredity and the environment, the role of caregivers and the family, health and safety concerns, and contemporary issues.

Students can earn industry certifications as they begin to focus their career choices through the different health career pathways that we offer, including EKG Technician, Nursing Assisting, Intro to Medical Assisting, Phlebotomy, and Allied Health.

Agriscience
We offer a wide range of Agriculture based courses in animal science, horticulture, and basic mechanical work. We offer certifications in Agriculture Foundations, Animal Science, Horticulture and Agritechnologies. With FFA; our co-curricular student organization; we strive to increase students’ knowledge and hands-on experiences in agriculture education. Students learn from hands-on activities, work in the classroom, and also through the largest student-run organization in the world, the FFA.
Construction
We offer students an introduction to the construction industry. Students gain the necessary knowledge with classroom instruction using textbooks, video instruction, guest speakers from the construction industry, and hands-on applications. With the knowledge and skills students gain in this class, they will be able to safely operate hand tools, portable power tools, and stationary power equipment. Students are also given valuable instruction on interview skills, formulating material lists, finance, and many other areas. With all of the combined studies that students gain it will better prepare them for success in their future career endeavors.
